Hononegah High School has an opening in two boys track meets for the 2012 season: The Hononegah Relays, Saturday, April 21, and the Northern Illinois Invitational, Friday, May 4. Both meets include frosh-soph events. The Hononegah Relays is a 6-team meet and the Northern Illinois Invitational is a 12-team meet. Whitney Young High School has openings at two of their invitationals.
- Saturday September 4th they will be hosting the Inagural Eikiden Relays. Each School gets 5 pairs of runners. Each runner will run three alternating one mile loops for a total of six miles. Total time will be recorded. Teams will be scored based upon the total time of their top three finishing pairs. Girls will run with girls and boys will run with boys. Larger Schools can enter B Teams to allow participation for an additional 5 pairs of runners. B teams must be declared prior to the start of the meet, and if possible, have different uniforms. The relay format will be followed by a two mile open race and a one mile novice race. The meet was held at Legion Park, located at Bryn Mawn & Kedzie Avenues.
- Saturday, September 25th they are hosting the 4th annual Dennis Ziomek Invitational at Washington Park. The Varsity race is held in two divisions (divided by enrollment) and all races are chip timed. Last year over 30 teams participated.
